If you think of Auschwitz think of this
Your children will not die by means of gas
All of us will walk that final path
But we have lived our lives so on we pass
The Jews of Europe killed without a word.
The death of God no longer feels absurd
What they might have given forever lost.
Prescription murder, there will be a cost.
As we walk around in obscene dress
The rational and objective caused this mess
Be thankful that our God did not choose us.
Yet being unchosen and alive is worse.

Wow, Katherine. This is – hard hitting!

I am sorry I thought I had vreplied to your comment. I certainly thought about it a lot because I wasn’t sure whether l should publish it without speaking to someone who is Jewish. But we’re all affected by what happened whether we acknowledge it or not. I was born just after the war and so I was still quite young when I heard about it and couldn’t comprehend it at all. I don’t want to say anymore in public.
Thank you for reading my poems Katherine
I’m glad I did 😌
