My toad

The government kicked the can across the road

Destroyed the home of Alfred my pet toad.

If only Alfred lived inside the house .

Never would he suffer such a bounce.

Alas he speaks no English though he’s bright.

I don’t know yet if adult toads can bite

I dream into your mind

I wish I were at Whitby by your side
From the Abbey Steps we saw the.whole
The sound of gulls aswirling round our minds

The atmosphere of Yorkshire blunt and kind
Salty air,the North Sea,winds that groan
I wish I were at Whitby by your side

See the children taking donkey rides
The fishermen look anxious , happy, worn,
The sound of gulls is swirling round my mind

From Saltburn,Staithes to Bempton bold cliffs rise
Then Bridlingon where Hockney was a boy
I wish I were at any by your side

The two weeks break seemed long when we arrived
Now all my past seems like an old map torn
The sound of gulls is calling you to mind

To be in Whitby and to be alone
The pie shop’s open yet I feel forlorn
I wish we were at Whitby side by side
The sun and air, I dream into your mind

THE TORN MAP

Iris-histrioides_2018-2.jpg
I tore my map on a sharp nail,
And let out an almighty wail.
but mother said “it’s alright,dear.
The world is still entirely here”
She fixed my map with sellotape,
Then wiped my face with baby wipes.
I went  off to fly my kite,
And do you know, she was quite right

My phone doesn’t mind

By Katherine with Microsoft Paint

Mary had a good sleep and after waking stretched like a cat, slowly and long

She phoned Annie.

Who is this,Annie asked?

It’s me Mary.
You don’t sound like Mary

Don’t you store numbers on your phone.

I have enough storage problems without keeping numbers. My wardrobes are packed

You don’t need a wardrobe, they are stored on the phone

Well the phone is too small to put much into it and I can’t see a little door to open

Good grief! Don’t you know the phone has a memory?

Don’t tell me they have brains

So do they have minds? What will they think of me after hearing what I say? j hope they can’t speak

For goodness sake get back into bed and get out on the other side.i don’t need all this in the morning.

Tough.You can’t control me.

Goodbye

Making shapes

Should we write in form to make a shape
Or let our minds run free, associate?
Such tangled webs within the mind are draped

Oh, to run as free as antelopes
But from sharp tigers noone will escape
Can we control , disarm within a shape?

Love’s enacted falsely , making rape
Inside our hearts shall we recover hope?
Such tangled webs the curtained mind creates

Round the marbled minds we half dazed traipse
Wherever we go hunting, we’re too late
Can we control our fear within a shape?

Collapsing faith cracks , can we concentrate
Or from the deal , do we dissociate?
Such tangled webs of mind make ripe our hate

Now sex compels but will can’t procreate
Can kindness smile and friendship instigate?
Should we write in form when we love shape?
Our mingled maps of mind might alter fate

Splinters

He’s the type who hits himself on the head with a large wine bottle and then complains abour flying glass.

He’s the sort who swears at women when he’s happy and swears at them when he’s angry. And when he’s depressed he curses at himself which is much worse.

So I said to him,you need a change and he hit ME on the head with an empty bottle and complained t about the splinters getting in his heart.

So I said, you don’t need to break the bottle, just take the cork out. Then he said I was too bold and bright for a woman.

So I laid him on the bed and took out his splinters with my tweezers.
I stitched him up completely…he’ll be fine in a few weeks time when the cuts are all healed.
Meanwhile he’s resting in the cat’s basket. And the cat is in bed with me.Well,I thought he was a cat at first…turns out to be my ex… he still had a door key.
He said, what’s going on?There’sa man in a casket.
I said,No, he’s in a basket…

So he said, how big is your cat.
I showed him a photo.
That’s no cat it’s a cheetah,he informed me.
Just like you,I said naughtily
So he took the fence and ran away too sea…I hope it floats.
He ought to join the navy but he wore bottle green.
Why are bottle green,I wonder
And I l ike blue glass though not in shards.
So now the cat sleeps in a cot with its kittens… and feeds them all on demand and me as well.

That’s a saving gr

I’m so shy I wear a colander over my mask.

I’m so shy I met my husband on line then married online

We are not sure whether we can have sex on line.

I am so shy I did not breast feed my child.I had IVF as my husband has HIV

Now we hope to meet as his sperm don’t like being posted online.

I am so shy I never have a bath naked .

I am so shy my startle reflex gave me angina

What use is fight or flight when you are having a heart attack?

I am so shy I wear an eye mask and a face mask. But I can hear you.

Why don’t they make head masks?

Verbal abuse

Oh I am so fed up being alone

Well it is your own fault for being so introverted.

Please don’t get angry with me

Why shouldn’t I, you are pathetic.

If so why are you here?

Well I love you

Oh don’t be distressed by my ingratitude.i was born dim.

But you can talk.

Stop arguing

Don’t tell me what to say.

I am only trying to help you.

To the loony bin.

Why,are you seeing things?

Have you seen them too?

Yes, it’s the Government.

Why are they here?

To drive us mad.

We are mad at already

Yes it is too boring

So let’s have therapy

With whom,?

If we get visions we may see Freud.

Does he speak English?

In my dreams.

You are so clever

How do you know?

I am the same!

What Is Misophonia?

Do certain daily sounds trigger an over-the-top emotional reaction, but yet don’t seem to bother anyone else?

This is the case with misophonia — a strong dislike or hatred of specific sounds.

What Happens?

Misophonia is a disorder in which certain sounds trigger emotional or physiological responses that some might perceive as unreasonable given the circumstance. Those who have misophonia might describe it as when a sound “drives you crazy.” Their reactions can range from anger and annoyance to panic and the need to flee.  The disorder is sometimes called selective sound sensitivity syndrome.

Individuals with misophonia often report they are triggered by oral sounds  — the noise someone makes when they eat, breathe, or even chew. Other adverse sounds include. keyboard or finger tapping or the sound of windshield wipers. Sometimes a small repetitive motion is the cause — someone fidgets, jostles you, or wiggles their foot.

Similarly, people with misophonia also say they often react to the visual stimuli that accompanies sounds, and may also respond intensely to repetitive motions. Researchers believe that those with misophonia may already have issues with how their brains filter sounds and that one of the features of “misophonic sounds” may be their repetitive noise. That repetition then exacerbates the other auditory sounds

Mary,Mary

Mary realised her voice was louder than most when people took out their hearing aids when she talked to them

But was she right?

There are alternatives explanations such as people were not interested in Wittgenstein but in the cost of living

She did find her booming voice useful when phoning doctors,

Why had her voice got louder as she aged? Could her doctor have given her testosterone instead of oestrogen?

Off she went to meet her doctor on Zoom

Oh,my God her GP shouted.

When you said you were an 85 year old mathematician I assumed you were a man but your voice was feminine hence I gave you male hor.mones to deepen it and make it more authoriative

Why don’t you change your gender ? he continued

I don’t feel like a màñ

How do you know how men feel ?

They have felt me in bed with an urgency that surprised me

If you tell them you are trans they won’t feel you anymore

Unless they are gay

And so say all of us

Ripped in half

Our first cat 1990

Loneliness, the word’s not strong enough
For widows and their masculine counterparts.
Ripped in half, that’s more the phrase; like, tough.

No arms left now, that never will rebuff.
No eager lips which whispering love impart
Loneliness, the word’s not strong enough

People say, of course, the going’s rough
The coming’s gone and nothing shall gestate
Ripped in half, that’s more the phrase; like, tough.

Never more to share cartoons and laughs.
Never more to be a chosen mate
Loneliness, the word’s not wrong enough.

Did we know the heart of what we had?
Did we learn the art of love. of fate?
Ripped in half, that’s more the phrase; like, tough.

You have gone and closed now is the gate
In a mad ball, I dance with love and hate
Loneliness, the word’s not strong enough!
Ripped in half, that’s more the phrase; like, tough.

Chapter 2. Was their voice too loud?

Mary was not with Annie. She had been arrested She had tried to order a Spanish Omelette in

a Chinese restaurant The owner had suffered shock on hearing Mary’s voice and had passed out.

Did you hope to injure this man?

Of course not.I was very hungry so I sounded urgent.

You nearly wet yourself, the policeman said

How can you nearly wet yourself she murmured like a thunderstorm on Hellvellyn.

Either you wet or you don’t wet, she continued.

As far as others see.but you may have had to use those muscles to control your bladder.

I suppose that could be measured but is it worth it?

No, said the man.better to use it to buy a book.

So who is your favourite author

Tim Parkes he been informed her.

Who is yours?

I shall let you know

And so shall all of us.

Power and dementia

I read that people who have dementia may be in a place where they are not receiving enough attention,

And it’s true

I see the underlying belief namely that we are in control of our speech and behaviour despite that we know how people react must be linked to where they live and which part of their country they live in

You call it the context of their life and we are all affected by this.People trapped in Ukraine will have feelings different from ours in the UK

It’s a bit like the frame of a picture. Some make it look much better.

That’s how retiring from work we enjoy can make us feel like a different person.

So we may need to do new things and maybe meet new people to build a structure again

I meant to comment on demented people shouting

It’s not all their fault it’s their context.

Anyone at all might shout if they endured the situation of these sufferers.

It also ocurrs to me that what other people do we think they do deliberately but judging outselves we we are kinder as we know fatigue, grief, getting out of the wrong side of the bed can make us say or do thoughtless things

.

Power is at the root of it and they have so little power except being a nuisance

I notice some have penetrating voiced and uncanny crying like a baby with an adult larynx

There was one in the hospital but the voice had no individuality. They each sound like the others.

Can it be the animal cry that

predates speech?

I heard one say to a nurse

If only I could be normal for one  hour

Spring war

The freshness of spring air soothes human souls

Except there is a war where Russia fights

So our happy feelings can’t take hold

Though late, spring air does soothe our anxious souls

Mr Putin’s mind is very cold.

In nothing nature does can he delight

Soft the sunny air on stricken souls

The freshness of spring air soothes human souls

Except for a grave war old Russians fights

At rest

We trudged across the cinders to the seats

By the lovely flowerbeds so sweet

I had wanted to play out with skipping ropes

But Daddy made me take him to the park

Another day it was the bowling green

The grass well cared for looked so very clean

The round balls clicked if they just touched or bumped

Not like cricket, bowls did not have stumps

I preferred the flowers, they were the best

Later they were laid for him at rest.

One more for our convenience

Why did God not give us all three eyes.

Two to use and one lest we go blind.

Whatever God may be that’s not his way

Loss and gain are how we grow each day

Joy and sorrow mingle like two streams

The living waters bring us all we need

My watercolour love

Joseph_Mallord_William_Turner_-_Norham_Castle,_Sunrise_-_WGA23182

Though our colours mingled, the earliest remain.
Two watercolor paintings without frames,
Became one picture over time,
Yet two of us still there.
Our colours blended naturally,
Now all the hues are shared.

I love your colours flowing into mine:
Together they have made a new design.
A Watercolor painted by the rain;
We shall go, but our Watercolor Love will still remain

Inner wealth

Picasso birthday card

What’s the point of talking to yourself.

If noone listens then go somewhere else

You must listen too or it’s not fair

Equal acts demand a proper share.

Giving and receiving balance well.

Else the talking takes us all to Hell.

Hell is other people Sartre said

Was he referring to his life in bed?

I would not consent to give myself

To a man without some inner wealth

I don’t mind the paucity of dress

Still a jacket must not me distress.

I’d like to steal one for the pocket space.

Women’s clothes are often a disgrace

Psycho

My own photo

I have no love left in my heart today
and neither do I wish to talk or pray
for I am feeling psycho in my mood
So here I search and that’s the way I brewed
Soaking is a wasteful stupid act
Light rumination ,I think  truly daft
Better far to cast the burden down
And go to see a film about a clown

Now I can’t unravel my own mind

Is God no longer able to design?

Proofs by Thomas did not enlighten me

I asked for help with this but I cannot see

Candlelight

At the very edge of human sight
Places we don’t go till in despair
Love is waiting like a golden light

The world in panic, will the virus bite?
Noone ever said this world is fair
At the very edge of human sight

Is there really danger of such might,
Where our hidden fears emerged dark ,bare
Love is fading where’s the sun, the light?

Panic like a virus can ignite
Responses that are worse than germs out there
At the very rim of human sight

Our defences that are usually adroit
Now lie like dead young soldiers unrepaired
Love is fading to a weaker light

The still, small voice is quieter than a bird
The storm is passing by, will it be heard?
At the very edge of human sight
Love is dying,looks like candlelight

In the box again

Pay Father.

You are the penitent so should I pay?

I meant, Pray

I ate my packed lunch at 11am

Your sins are too dull .my child Have you no sins of humour?

What is a mortal sin? The opposite of an immortal sin.

Is that funny?

What is a venial sin?.It is a sin committed by snakes.

Do they choose to have venom?

Do we choose to have sex hormones ?

Do you have a firm purpose of amendment?

When I am elected President,yes

Scruples are a sin.If you did not aspire to be perfect you would not have àny.

God has not died.He has moved house.

My husband has a rubber face

Art by Katherine

My husband has a rubber face,
He’s a member of the human race.
Some men have faces fixed and set;
My husband’s face is not like that.

He imitates our politicians,
Just like Rory Bremner can.
Though he has no wig or hair piece,
He can look like anyone.

Some nights I waken for I'm laughing
While I am quite sound asleep.
I am dreaming of his mobile features,
Contorted to a different shape.

He is skilled at telling jokes.
And he loves a good cartoon.
If I am suffering flu type blueness
He can get me well again.

He has a rather noble visage.
He gets attention he abhors.
In the bar on King’s Cross Station—
I was asked was he a Lord!

He’s a Lord of Fun and Humour.
He’s a Lord at Listening Well.
He’s unique, but so are you,
And all creatures that on earth do dwell

British people comfort yourselves

You won’t have to pay a heating bill when you are dead

The currency in heaven is love not power.

Shops are hot so take a folding chair and sit down to read the paper.

How does Hell stay hot?

Is it fair?

Once you go you can’t come back

So be patient and wise.Go to the library instead

Why not read pornography to get hotter?

It might be free!

Be like a child.Get a skipping rope.

Get some balls and crack your own nuts.Only if you have a cracker

Pretend it’s Nov 5th and have a bonfire.

Not wise if you have no yard or garden.

You can collect wood to burn or why not get rid of your furniture?

Get another cat and let them sleep with you.Mine woke me up milking my hair.
