I never thought before about the fact that some of us are “behind a glass” all the time since we need spectacles.I have had them so long I can’t imagine seeing in another way. When I was a child there was a saying
Men don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses
In the current situation men won’t be making passes at any girls if the fear of being accused of harassment gets worse.
Anyway,in my experience men don’t mind if you wear glasses.Maybe more men would have chased me but I had sufficient.I didn’t want too many I had my own life to lead. and I feel sorry sometimes when I reject them.. it’s hard for some men but they have to realize that is life and they will find a nicer more beautiful woman elsewhere.
I must admit I hated wearing glasses at first.I wonder of it does affect one always looking through glass or plastic?Still the hands and face are free to feel the air on them.

In connection with some of the things you’ve posted on the introvert personality, it seems to me that some people prefer the glasses as a sort of protection… a veil between themselves and the rest of the world. But in any case, many men will make a pass whenever there is a remote chance that their interest will be rewarded. After all, isn’t loneliness universal?
Forgive me for not answering for quite a while… I have been distracted and disconcerted in recent weeks. But I did want to answer your reply to me. Yes, I feel that part of the reason for men to reach out constantly to women is the existential loneliness that we all feel, connected of course to the sex drive which is part of nature, no matter how much we try to be moderate… it is an instinct which gives an expression to the desire for life in the face of our own mortality. I agree with you, though, that the greatest loneliness is when we are in the company of people who do not really understand us, or with whom we find we cannot identify.
