If I’m so low

A man devout in fasting, prayer and pleas
Made much of what his holiness could do
But pride became a flaw when he asked me
Who are you that I should pray for you?

I am you, I told him, like the bell
That rings when someone dies or sin to quell
God made you and God made me as well.
Such a man makes heaven seem like hell

For though we do good deeds and even pray
We cannot judge ourselves to be the saved
We struggle on the dangerous, frightening way
We cannot judge our sin or other’s grace

If I’m so low  then God shall me perceive
I trust him with my heart and I believe

  1. This is awesome. Thank you for all your insights and excellent writing. I have a question for you. If someone writes poorly but puts a lot of their heart into it, does that make the writing acceptable? I’m thinking of James Joyce as an example. But actually It is a challenge for me also.

    1. I think first of all it may not be so poor but if it is and the person keeps on writing they will gradually get better at it.
I do think if you put your heart into it then it will affect other people’s hearts as well.I notice my more emotional poems get more views.Thank you very much for praising my writing,I used to be a teacher so I am pleased if anybody learns from or enjoys my writing.I find it is very good as a hobby and when you are not having to make a living from it but you just enjoy doing it.I notice people in the USA are very keen to learn and to write and I admire that.
James Joyce is very hard to read.He was introducing a new way of writing but like modern classical music it’s a tough thing to get into.
I do think if you feel a pull towards writing, follow your heart. You have insights unique to you.Practising is the thing.Katherine
