Inviolability

The human condition,

We’d like to think we’re  inviolable.

To want our children so

Yet even without tornados and tsunamis

We can be pretty destructive.

Perhaps it’s some cruel gossip we’ve passed on;

Perhaps it’s a desire we cherish to hurt a friend or an enemy.

And now we have   the impingement of terror drawing nearer.

Yet was our government not complicit in torture and imprisonment without trial?

There was a large demonstration against the Iraq War.

The leaders attention was elsewhere.

Maybe it’s like children’s game to them?

Inviolability seems a fantasy.

Ozymandias shows us that.

Athens and Troy,

Mighty Rome

Next,Europe?
