Damned if you bare and damned if you swear. It’s obscene or a scheme for a wife.
He flinched at my heat and then did a runner.
Strangle a carrot and hunt for a whim. You will be deprived of words
He’s a cart horse trying to make out with a gazelle on steroids
The day came late when a follower took fright and I killed my blog by a blow
What is as dead as door mail?
Think not that the postman is no longer doing a service.
I am late as your dead cats pounced on me by the gate… for ghosts they sure can bite
Dead presidents don’t ring twice
You head wringer! You neck clinger!Leave me alone…don’t torture my verbs
I said it to give my defence not to give offence.Anyway he took offence and ran off
He gave a deadly flow to my brain..he savaged my self esteem. Now mt emotional intelligence has gone  too far
I’m au fait, you’re auto da fe
Health by a thousand cuts this winter in the NHS
I saw fear in his headlights…akka his eyes..
Dig for the cold bloggers in Iceland
Why dip your brow in the water when the horse won’t drink it?
Does dirt weep inside the vacuum cleaner and why do vacuums need cleaning?
You can have milk from my breast… how it got there is a mystery
Do words fly?
Does God ever cry?
And why?

A paradox about difficulty

Cat free

After I mentioned the book by Lawrence LeShan yesterday I was thinking about meditation and about difficult times in life.Often when things are hard for us, we get stressed,we get the”fight or flight” response which released adrenalin   and other hormones and we get narrower vision [I have actually had “tunnel vision“,it’s not a metaphor].We are ready to attack somebody or to quickly run away.Usually neither is possible so this response makes life worse. We get worn to a shred

When we need help,we can get in touch with something within us.The paradox is that we need to be relaxed to get in touch with this inner deeper self.We need to trust in something despite the dangers. In religious terms, trust in God is a common phrase. But not many Christians  I have known really do trust in God.I prefer to call it  the Unknown. After all, what or who was it that made the sperm and egg unite and then made the embryo grow into you?It was not by will power and effort that your mother grew you.It was by allowing this inner wisdom to act upon the embryo. So relaxing ,allowing, being are needed. How can we let go and trust in the inner deep self to help us?Maybe when we are in despair because we tried everything else and nothing works. This is a concern I am dwelling on today.I feel ,being Sunday,it is appropriate tio think of what some would call the spiritual side of lifeI was helped once when in a tragic  situation.I kept looking for a way out.Sitting quietly one day I found I suddenly knew I could do nothing except return to my notmal duties and accept the tragedy. We need to feel safe in order to trust

A long review of Conversations with Emmanuel Levinas

http://ndpr.nd.edu/news/24561-conversations-with-emmanuel-levinas-1983-1994/

This is really good. Not just a short book review but a discussion ranging quite widely of all Levinas‘s era and his Judaism.

It makes me think how  much we can take our life for granted when we consider all the tragedies in the world.I read yesterday that men are never confident of their masculinity and thus war is inevitable just as scapegoats have been needed to carry  the  evil of us who cannot face our own evil…

Are humans able to change? What is the role of women in all of this?

I am  mulling it over whilst heavy rain falls down and leaves fly off the trees

Is it Righteous to Be?: Interviews with Emmanuel Lévinas

I am very  pleased to say I have just ordered this after reading some of it on Google Scholar. If you are interested in Philosophy of the last century and in history then I urge you to read it.Because unless you are educated in philosophy it’s easier to get a grasp of his ideas through interviews where he  is answering questions from other people.I like this type of book even when it’s a novelist or a poet or artist.Something attracts me to the idea of interaction between two people

He was a back slapper so crazy, his hand went through me and hit my heart.I had a heart attacker… him!
He truly did have baited breath and once a salmon leaped down his throat.I told him it was dangerous but the salmon killed him so we really didn’t enjoyed eating it even when it smoked a cigar by the table.
Will the Royal Family choose baptism by fire for Prince George?
Beauty is in the buys of the beholder
Beauty is only thin it’s not deep
I have a big head and a small tart
Do we cry over cow’s sulks?
Do you feel me press your organ in my sleep; Or am I dreaming?
Does my heart do you good when you kick it/
I am driving my self crazy so I shall get insecurity benefits or is it impurity deficits?First I have to hear a voice offering me advice.. or swearing at me.Hang on,I’ll phone an old blogger who might shout,Bugger!
Life is endless words with no punctuation except when we get stoned…those
may be full stops when we over blow ourselves and the balloonish egoes burst.
Every dog has his stray cat.
Everything’s coming up our noses so block them up.
A faint art never an oil painting shows
I fall head over wheels into a police van; why am I low sunk?
We fall through the cracks that God left in the world…give him credit for uncommon sense
Ban the old blames now!Burn them all or go to hell… it’s your choice.
Are you nurturing an old wound?Seal it off with “super soul and heart glue!” Yoohoo

my hand 2

Each face has  its intrinsically  unmeasurable beauty.
Inside I am astutely breaking down numbers
into their prime factors;
as I look out I see the polgons on your wrinkled skin
retain their topological invariance as you speak and gesture.
What’s that for?
Yes,my eyes say,I hear you,I am listening;
I’m a lake of warm water,Fall into me and float.
At one end I keep a Thesaurus of real and imaginary words.
They are waiting to inform me of my next disappointment
With the so called Real.

My false self is so true to herself
She has become real….
Declared as such by Royal punctuation.
My real self is waiting to get married…they are both female you see,
~So it’s going to be a really gay occasion.
We hope you can join the three of us.
I am a trinity;I am a reflection of God
in a puddle of rainwater.
There is the real self, the false self
And I who observe… A spirit one might say,for now.

The lacquer which made my pen look expensive is peeling off.
Underneath it is a crude orange..
So it has lost sophistication but gained
An edible appearance to a hungry writer.
And now I am a cheese tart in a dish on your table.
You may gobble me up and I shall see the glint in your eyes.
After a while we’ll have transubstantiation
When I become you though I shall be invisible to human eyes.
Have Faith!

The polygons look weary,Topology may describe but won’t help.
Let me touch you.Let me feel you
And see if my fingers can account for all parts of you…
See it’s all intellectual work and so for my homework
I must take you to bed and count your bits all night…
and of course you can count mine. Then we can dream
Of ripeness and late roses which bloom in winter.
Do we agree or disagree or is such language completelt inappropriate?
This is one kind of examination but not another.
the trick is to know which.

In the still green hedge.
I saw the lake and your reflection
And my reflection.;
and did the sparrows see
as the sun shone slantside
over the steeply falling bank?
Dd they see this natural mirror?
And my mind’s mirror
gave me new reflections
in the reverie
Of the dreaming evening,
As I slid slowly down
Into soft slumber;
Trusting the life within,
Trusting you;
Trusting myself;
and in my reflections
I see you too,
smiling in welcome;
smiling the beautiful smile, the true smile of love itself.
The embrace of the dreaming world
comforts
and holds us
as we breathe gently
in the sweet air
of love.

Wild flowers, Holy Land [Israel]

Matthew 6:25-34

American Standard Version (ASV)

25 Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?

26 Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value then they?

27 And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life?

28 And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Courage

This is very interesting and the whole site is good

http://oates.org/index.php/journal/prior-editions/92-2001/288-schmidt-2001

Extract:

In examining the lives of these quiet heroes, Kohut concluded that they all manifested three features that gave their courage the qualities of groundedness and non-psychosis, but also allowed them to transcend the entrapment of the status quo. These three features were not necessarily equally present in these different individuals but they all seemed to manifest them in obvious measure so that it was clearly discernable by others. These three features are: 1) a sense of humor, 2) the ability to respond to others with empathy, and 3) a deep sense of peace. This latter attribute was especially noteworthy in spite of the intense inner struggle underway in them as they faced their choices and their agonizing consequences. Their personalities seemed filled with a profound sense of serenity, perhaps close to what we would call wisdom. These three elements, especially the sense of peace or serenity, always seemed evident to observers, even to their torturers, persecutors and executioners.

“I will say this…..being truly human

“I will say this quite plainly, what truly human is -and don’t be afraid of this word- love. And I mean it even with everything that burdens love or, i could say it better, responsibility is actually love, as Pascal said: ‘without concupiscence’ [without lust]… love exists without worrying about  being loved.”
― Emmanuel Lévinas, Of God Who Comes to Mind

Does God get depressed?

Bus view 3

[ From a photo using Artweaver]

If God had to rest on the seventh day,she must get tired. And if he can get tired then he might get depressed.Especially when she looks down on us here all fighting, squabbling and showing envy, hatred and malice
So,for God’s sake
BE GOOD

Aleph and the alphabet

I found my book on the alphabet by David Sacks.Aleph  our A is the first letter… it denotes an ox.You can buy the book for one penny !You know where…. it begins with A too

And in Ancient Hebrew it means [according to the  mystical writings the Kabbalah],the Divine Energy that preceded and initiated creation. The Hebrew Bible  thence begins with

bereshith

in the beginning

using the second letter b

He says aleph can also denote a person’s readiness to act..

I can’t write much here but get the book… we all can understand each other better

This is really heart warming and moving

A deep but dazzling darkness.

I heard these words some years ago and did not know who wrote them.Henry Vaughn was a 17th Century metaphysical poet and mystic. The quotation seems to imply a paradox as darkness is not dazzling..but I think that’s because we cannot  capture God in discursive language as if He were an object in our world

There is in God (some say) a deep but dazzling darkness.”
Henry Vaughan

Why I get cross when I spell wrong

I get cross when I spell wrong because I can spell correctly so I see the errors. If I couldn’t spell  then I wouldn’t notice.
Is that a bit like wishing God had not given us the ten commandments? Some things are obviously wrong like killing your neighbors. But other things are tough to decide

The mind has its eye …. the soul’s window

I am cleaning the wind’s eyes tomorrow and  my eyes. You have to clean windows in Spring time because the sunshine shows up the dirt.Reading about the origin of the word “window” made me think how all language was originally metaphor and that poetry and song preceded speech in the way we know it now

What I find the most fascinating is that language evolved, not in universities but in the lives of ordinary people and their needs from economic,to artistic to religious.I think now our language can seem dead which points to the importance of poetry. We don/t want the only new words to be those made up by advertisers or by newspeak in technology..Babies learn to speak one or even two or three languages….Strange how many children here leave school functionally illiterate…the learning process goes wrongWe should place a higher value on ourselves and our natural abilities and not worship the experts. Our senses are our windows and inside we have our  mind which even has its own eye..and though that eye we see God

“The eye with which we see God, is the eye with which God sees us”

from  Meister Eckhart.[Sermons]

Some write, some have rites and some have OCD

Photo0274

I may have put a jokey title but I know OCD is nothing to joke about…… it is  hard for sufferers and their families

Yet all rites and rituals are cousins to OCD.I suppose the distinction may  come  if you find that you grow fearful and distraught when, by some chance, you cannot carry out your usual rites and rituals like washing your hands ten times or avoiding cracks in the sidewalk or pavement……many children fear that but most forget as they grow more confident

I certainly hate to see my early morning tea if it’s in the wrong cup but not enough to stop me from drinking 5 mugfuls of it.I am a tea lady ..one drink I cannot live without

Religion has, as one important aspect, a way of attempting to create order in a frightening world. We make offerings to placate the gods who cause storms and fires and epidemic diseases.Though by now we ourselves  have created even worse darker gods, like nuclear bombs

I think the value of rellgion is the coming together and getting strength through that.

It unites people in a helpful way [ except for the other people who have different rites.]

People with OCD often have rituals which are private… and if they can’t do them they are agitated  almost beyond endurance…But if they can do them they feel safer… And sometimes they can  take  over  a life and then the person needs help or courage to face the hidden fear and outface it.

The same way,if your religion takes over your life  I think you need help.Religion is to encourage you live a better life not cause you excessive misery and pain… or not too much…we all do wrong,we all make mistakes… we do penance. We are forgiven,we forgive….  some people don’t, so avoid such people if you can. They even frighten God!

Whatever God is. he accepts us…. that’s my firm belief.. and ….if He won’t accept me then I won’t accept Him or Her

Does God have a body…does he have a mind?

I guess we cannot conceive what God may be or not in discursive language at any rate

Do you mind,Lord?

No,not at all.. I am listening

Thank  you,God

My pleasure.

We are here, waiting patiently, despite all the trials.and the troubles..ready to listen

Like a river

Life goes on like a river flowing. So we need to flow too even if we have to navigate rocks and boulders.Sometimes it’s easy flowing downhill but landslips may block the way.But the water keeps pushing and finds a way round all obstacles.

Sometimes we may suffer and even despair. In ancient books we read that God can touch us at that moment

.It’s hard to describe but wait on God .Simone Weil wrote a book called “Waiting on God”

I find it interesting to use the words wait on in different ways.
