A white petal

May Sunday again;
Hailstones rush sideways,
striking the windows
with small fierce blows.
In the gaps between
two white butterflies zig zag
like motorized wild flowers;
One colour, two forms. I see now
two aspects of Nature:
hard,destructive,stern;
frail and delicate.
Both are coloured the same white.
Hard to tell sometimes which we are seeing
But we can all distinguish between a gentle touch
and a bitter blow.
As the day dips into night my heart falls too.
In these dreams I look for the lost
in the snowy steppes and the ices of the heart.
A white petal falls.
Cherry trees bloom again

Russia in love.

My heart flakes

He’s writing the definititive book on sin.
Do people want to hear anymore about sin?
Any more? I’ve heard very little recently. The Word has vanished!
You read the wrong newspaper.
Can a newspaper be wrong in itself, intrinsically wrong?
Can a newspsper be a Sin?
Well,there’s one called the Sun!
Why don’t they just call it The Big Sin and have done with it?
You should write to Rupert.
Who’s Rupert?
You know him,Murdoch!
Now Iris Murdoch, she was a right one.
Well,she certainly wrote a few!
A few too many,in my view.
Too many for whom?
My,you talk posh don’t you?
Should it be,you talk poshly?
Me!I’m as common as ,as ,as as,aas,……….muck!
Do stop, you’ll fall down a crack in the pavement soon and then where will you be?
I’ll be in Australia with Rupert!
Suppose you came out in New Zealand?

Image
Well,it would be a change.I’m tired of England.
You never mentioned it before.
I didn’t want to upset you.
Well,I’m not so keen myself.
You sound like a knife!
Do you mean,a wife?
No, a knife…with a blade.
Yes, it does look well made.
Shall we buy one?
But do we really need it?
Do we really need anything?
Get a move on,you’re not at college now you know.
Who’re you?
My name is Wisdom.
I’m so sorry.
Why are you sorry?

Image

It’s hard to be called Wisdom when you are a complete idiot.
Well, better a complete idiot than a sharp tongued wasp!
Do you mind!
Not at all.Better an idiot than a mutton dressed as lamb.
Are you a vegetarian?
I do eat the odd vegetables.
And who eats the even ones?
They all go to the supermarket.
So that’s how it works. You are so clever.
Well,I’m an economist.
I believe in economy for all.
I prefer comics myself.
No,they are called graphic novels now.
A bit like those Rupert books we had as children.
I wish Rupert Murdoch was called something else.
I’m sure he will be in tomorrow’s papers.
I mean,it defiles the memory of Rupert the teddy bear.
I learned to read from those.
A pity.
Why?
If you couldn’t read, think of all the other things you could do.
Like writing?
If you coudn’t read ,it would seem to follow that you couldn’t write.
Yet there are people who can read but not write?
Yes,it’s all to do with Venn diagrams and symmetry.
Venn is a weird name.
Yes,pity he wasn’t called Diagram.
I thought he was called,Venn Diagram.
All I know is that diaphragms were a form of birth control.
I was puzzled by that because we all have diaphragms, yet some of us have no control of any kind.
If your diaphragm doesn’t move you can’t breathe so you can’t procreate.
No,you’d be dead!
A very strange form of birth control.
Maybe you just faint and you husband can have his way with you.
But would you want sex with someone unconscious?
It’s another case of a-symmetry.. a man can have relations with a faint woman but if the man faints that’s the end of it.
How about carrots?
What for?
Can they faint?
No,but they make a nice flan.
Fancy that!
I do fancy it actually.
What is it?
It’s a big carrot!
How superb. It seems a shame to eat it.
Well, would like to worship it?
Not today.
Well,it won’t last forever.
In that case I’ll stick with God:
I’ll stick with Thee
Fast falls the chill of night
Semd me an angel,I need something bright.
I have no fear, with Thee I’ll be alright.
Why not give in and have electric lights.
You are very odd.
Well,it makes a change…
Not with you, you’ve always been odd.
So,in a way I’m not odd.
You are right!
Odd. is’t it?
And yet even simultaneously.
It seems almost like quantum theory.
Those were the days.
From Schoenberg to Schrodinger: cats for all.
Enberg to Dinger.
You could call the cat Dinger.
What a good idea.

There’s only one sure way to see.

Do your best to put them off,

Wear flat shoes and never laugh.

Study Wittgenstein and Kant.

Study all that’s difficult.

Parse Quantum Theory as a hobby.

Learn long words from the dictionary.

Once you have married and set up home,

You can free your mind to roam.

Throw away your library,

Let your senses all run free.

Wear bright clothes and have some fun.

Your adult life has just begun.

Shy?

Did you know that if you wear spectacles you can buy net curtains for the lenses.I am unsure what the police  may think but it hides your eyes quite well and you can still see as long as you wash the nets weekly

Alternatively you can buy hats with veils.Beware  if you are a man…it could give the wrong message or the right one!If that’s no good but a black bin bag on your head with holes for your eyes, nose and mouth and a sign on saying

I’m  just an introvert

Keep quiet

You must go out or you may get SAD.I caught it and I am in deep misery all day. Then I stay up all night cleaning the bathroom. It’s hard life being so full of good will and yet needing a human of my own.I will even marry  a human if it’s legal……I’m just a pen here with an atteched body.

Isn’t life fun when you are crazy?

The windows of our soul

Have you ever wondered why some people have  a light in their eyes and others don’t?

There is a  saying that the eyes are the windows of the soul

Some people have dead looking eyes.

Some have eyes brimming with tears

Some have dry and stony eyes like shingle on a beach

Inside and outside and our risky life

Windows are a way of viewing the outside from the inside and the inside  from the outside.Of course we don’tt think of our windows as being for others to look into our private rooms but most of us have looked through the window of a house at some time. Also there is a danger of thieves getting in,so windows and doors are vulnerable points in the fabric of a house not  nlike the orifices in the body  of which some receive and others expel matter. These places give us pain too or pleasure. And life

We may live alone and if very shy not have close relationships but even so the air comes into our noses and breath comes back out from the lungs. If we can’t do that we will die quickly. And our insides are full of bacteria and other organisms..~So we cannot shut ourselves off completely from any interaction. You are only totally secure if you are dead.

Life is inherently risky.Trees live for hundreds of years. Some insects only for a few months.

See through …

I have read this quote many times in other people’s books  and writing,But I never saw the whole verse before. It is in Goodreads which is an excellent website. You can see which books people read and see reviews too.I have often pondered about seeing “with the eyes” or “though the eyes” and even now I am unsure what it means but it seems important to me.So when I came upon it I copied it and share it with you

William Blake

“This life’s dim windows of the soul
Distorts the heavens from pole to pole
And leads you to believe a lie
When you see with, not through, the eye.”

These people live………….Ansel Adams

These people live again in print as intensely as when their images were captured on old dry plates of sixty years ago… I am walking in their alleys, standing in their rooms and sheds and workshops, looking in and out of their windows. Any they in turn seem to be aware of me.
Ansel Adams

A poem by George Herbert about windows [ The Poetry Foundation, link below]

The Windows

By George Herbert

Lord, how can man preach thy eternal word?
    He is a brittle crazy glass;
Yet in thy temple thou dost him afford
    This glorious and transcendent place,
To be a window, through thy grace.
But when thou dost anneal in glass thy story,
Making thy life to shine within
The holy preachers, then the light and glory
    More reverend grows, and more doth win;
Which else shows waterish, bleak, and thin.
Doctrine and life, colors and light, in one
When they combine and mingle, bring
A strong regard and awe; but speech alone
Doth vanish like a flaring thing,
And in the ear, not conscience, ring.

Windows by Charles Baudelaire

Looking from outside into an open window one never sees as much as when one looks through a closed window. There is nothing more profound, more mysterious, more pregnant, more insidious, more dazzling than a window lighted by a single candle. What one can see out in the sunlight is always less interesting than what goes on behind a windowpane. In that black or luminous square life lives, life dreams, life suffers.

Across the ocean of roofs I can see a middle-aged woman, her face already lined, who is forever bending over something and who never goes out. Out of her face, her dress, and her gestures, our of practically nothing at all, I have made up this woman’s story, or rather legend, and sometimes I tell it to myself and weep.

If it had been and old man I could have made up his just as well.

And I go to bed proud to have lived and to have suffered in some one besides myself.

Perhaps you will say “Are you sure that your story is the really one?” But what does it matter what reality is outside myself, so long as it has helped me to live, to feel that I am, and what I am?

Charles Baudelaire

The television screen is a window

The TV screen is a window into another world.Unlike the window in the front room here,it does not show real people going about their affairs.No.it shows a world which has been carefully constructed. Some programs are beautiful. Some nowadays are live shows where people meet various challenges.Sometimes these can be very damaging,as can live interviews. It;s strange to see one’s PM wearing makeup. And that’s the least of it!

You can watch violence, murder or pornography if you wish or hear orchestras playing your favorite music.Extend your choice with DVD’s.Spend all your life glued to the screen….which glue is best?I’ll let you know soon.

Then there are the political aspects..I did not watch much of the grand funeral here last week of   our ex PM Maggie Thatcher but I saw enough to show it’s being used by the current government to raise their own esteem in the public eye.A politician should never have a funeral with  military honors with the coffin on a gun carriage pulled by horses and the same week poor families had their welfare cut back.Ten million pounds on this event which also was very provocative to the worst off members of society.

St Francis SOS

They can construct this kind of event and by means of it manipulate our feelings.State and ceremonial funerals are for the Royal Family who are above party politics or for someone lke Churchill who led us through the fight against Nazi Germany.

Windows…. like dreams…. think about whether someone is presenting you with a view for their own ulterior motives and not to enlarge your view of the world

Fighting over a man

m so shy I read a book as I walk down the street.

Once I walked right under a bus.It was stationary!

So now I pretend I’m talking on my mobile.

He was into Lacan

Is he really?

OMG.

Whatever next!

I’m almost at the Mall.I think i’ll have a coffee.

See you later,got to go.

See,maybe all those folk

walking along with a cell phone or just pretending like me….

Are they really talking to another person ?

I must be careful reading in the Underground…who knows what’s lurking down there?

I saw him first.Let go.

He’s mine!
