We are broke , we can’t afford an oven.
What did they do with the ovens after Auschwitz..
give them to Charity or sell them to another evil Fascist country to pay for the re homing of the survivors ?
They were refused entry to the UK or USA .
Then we complained when they decided to flee to the Holy Land.
I bet Jesus wept all night.
Unless he was not a survivor
That made me blink.
Forgive us,O Lord.
Why?

this is POWERFUL – as it needs to be – and so necessary in this time of peddling hatred and the rise of the fascists to the corridors of power with a few on almost every continent.
“Never Again” ?
How pathetically short our memories are and how dangerously pliable we are to those who inflame hate and the othering of almost anyone not “like us” –
Thank you for this amazing piece
Warmest wishes and in solidarity
Thank you so much,Afzal.I can remember as a little child learning about WW2 and the Holocaust and this was” civilised” Europe.I agree it is shocking how easily we can be swayed by evil rulers or by newspaper articles built on lies.Maybe we are descended from cruel chimpanzees and the most strong ones fight and win and the nice ones die out.Mind you, there are some very good people in the world as well and here on WP. We can encourage each other and that is important.Have a good weekend,Katherine
so very true Katherine – it boggles the mind how the “power of hate” is so firmly entrenched in all our societies. it is a horrible and shameful reiry of being a human being – that we could turn ships away filled with those who were being sent back to certain death and to build billion dollar walls in a country that arose from the the genocide of the indigenous peoples and furthermore but by migrant labour – but that is the truth we live with today – how many times can we say “Never Again” – it is appalling and soul crushing but as you say there are many good people out there.
Far more good people than the greedy hate-filled few.
And that is our hopeful point of trying to make the slightest change so that another human being may have their faith in humanity restored.
Warmest wishes and a peaceful weekend for you.
Cheers my dear Katherine
I have been feeling down as some neighbours have been nasty to me.I thought about Jews being betrayed by their own neighbours sometimes. So it is nice to hear from a kindred spirit in another country although it is sad for us to look at the world and how a few very rich people can buy power and kill or wound others. It is very ironic about the USA which one I admired like when President Kennedy was alive though it still had not even given the vote to black people. It seems sometimes that like Jesus the good people get murdered like Martin Luther King.He died on my birthday.
I hope you can relax and enjoy the weekend and we must trust in God or whatever we believe is keeping us alive and so enjoy the fruits of nature and friendship as we must make the most of our time here.My warmest wishes to you also,Afzal
once again so true – and Martin Luther King was assassinated on the day my mum passed away in 2008 – yes indeed it does sometimes feel that the very best of us get taken away by the forces of hate and racism and anti-Semitism and religious hatred and islamophobia and LGBTI discrimination – I am so sorry about the neighbours being nasty – it is a sickening reminder of how far we still have to go and yes it was neighbours betraying neighbours during the Holocaust – and still in 2018 we see the same ugly sentiments on crude display.
We SHALL Overcome, my friend Katherine – perhaps not in the near future but eventually because hate and divisiveness is not sustainable and against the very fabric of nature.
May we pray for better days and may we struggle and fight the small battles each day against racism and misogyny and intolerance
stay well my friend
Thank you
Thank you, my respected sister in the struggle – we are kindred spirits and there are many of us and we will man the barricades against the forces of hate
What a marvel kindred spirits are.We will never surrender but we sometimes need help with the individual troubles we have.I realise these neighbours have never really seen me and possibly I have also failed sometimes in my perception.Good night, dear Afzal
Bless you my dear friend Katherine. Good night and warmest wishes and yes we DO need each other
