“Not only did I find that trying to describe my experience enhanced the quality of it, but also this effort to describe had made me more observant of the small movements of the mind. So now I began to discover that there were a multitude of ways of perceiving, ways that were controllable by what I can only describe as an internal gesture of the mind. It was as if one’s self-awareness had a central point of interest being, the very core of one’s I-ness. And this core of being could, I now discovered, be moved about at will; but to explain just how it is done to someone who has never felt it for himself is like trying to explain how to move one’s ears.”

wow – have to read more of her work
I have read that book 10 times! You can still get it though it was published in 1926.A very unusual book
wonderful. just wonderful, Katherine. this alone is something out of magic realism page – 1926! and 10 times – I’m getting my hands or screen on that book. It is a quest to be embarked upon.
hugs and warmest wishes dear friend

I think it’s wonderful we can share knowledge and feelings across the world.I am hoping to get a flu vaccination soon.It is still quite warm here and sunny which is not usual in November.I am glad if anyone finds my writing useful or interesting. Thanks for reading it.
It is wonderful that we are able to share knowledge and feelings across the world – from the southern tip of the continent of Africa – and connect with so many souls around the globe – it really does feel like a small commune – good luck with the flu shot – it’s getting warmer here with summer almost having arrived – but Johannesburg has wonderful weather and we’re lucky for that. never more than about 35° Celsius in mid summer and the evenings are cool with wild electric thunderstorms and soft soaking rains that really make the days lovely, not bleak.
take care and I find your writing very interesting and useful too – too exercise the old gray matter is always a good thing.
cheers and warmest wishes and hope you have a few more warm days ahead
Yes, my husband liked the weather in South Africa.I believe we are always able to learn new things and that it makes us feel younger. We will probably get snow after Xmas. But years ago November was very frosty and cold.
It’s nice to know that you find my writing interesting.I have learned a lot since I began writing 8 years ago.Enjoy the summer.
