My heart

I wanted to buy a new heart
I didn’t know where to start.
I tried shops of all kinds
For new hearts and minds.
But I found none were for sale,
Not even by mail.
My credit was bust.
I was still alive just.
Then a worm spoke to me.
The ants made me tea.
The slugs helped me crawl
So I could sit on the wall.
The blackbird sang high,
As clouds floated by.

Then I felt my heart glow.
I love  sweet song so.
And down on the ground,
There’s a home to be found
In the earth’s heavy soil,
Where small creatures toil

I cannot fall down,
If I’m here on the ground.
I see life anew,
From this point of view.
The trees look so grand
As proudly they stand.
There’s a stillness and calm,
I am healed of my harms.
I look up at the sun,
Evening has come.
Rest in the night.
Turn off the light.
Let your other self
Restore you to health.
