At rest

We trudged across the cinders to the seats

By the lovely flowerbeds so sweet

I had wanted to play out with skipping ropes

But Daddy made me take him to the park

Another day it was the bowling green

The grass well cared for looked so very clean

The round balls clicked if they just touched or bumped

Not like cricket, bowls did not have stumps

I preferred the flowers, they were the best

Later they were laid for him at rest.
